Doug Smith is Vice President and General Manager, CBS Studios International Canada, leading the division’s sales activities across all platforms throughout Canada. Prior to joining CBS Studios International in June 2011, Smith ran his own consultancy company advising leading Canadian media companies such Cineplex Entertainment, Corus Entertainment and Rogers Communications among others. From 2006-2008, Smith was Executive Vice President, Alliance Atlantis Motion Picture Distribution Income Trust where he managed daily operations across offices in Toronto, Montreal, London and Madrid before his focus shifted to the sale of the business to Goldman Sachs. Andrew Walker’s mission statement is to collaborate, engage and be a change agent for equality and inclusion. Andrew has refined this purpose over the 25 years he has worked for non profits in Ontario. The majority of that time has been spent working with those that are marginalized and not included—supporting people with developmental disabilities and those living with mental health issues. During the past two decades, he has held various roles from direct line support to management. Andrew has over ten years of experience exclusively in supervision and management. He has had the privilege to work with and supervise seven teams during his career and has become particularly influenced by coaching and development. Andrew is currently enrolled in the Master of Philanthropy and Non Profit Leadership program at Carleton University. I started The Centre in 1991 out of necessity. My son John had graduated from high school at the age of 21 and we needed something for him to become involved in. At the beginning, I serviced only 3 young adults – John and two of his friends. From there The Centre evolved and before I knew it, we had 17 individuals in the program, with 4 full time staff, 1 part time staff and numerous volunteers, as well as myself, volunteering full time. We pride ourselves in becoming extremely involved with this great community that we live in. We also pride ourselves in striving to make life more fulfilling for the individuals that attend our program and the lives that they touch. Graham Nichols has been a resident of Markham since 1963. In addition to being the senior lawyer for the Graham Nichols Professional Corporation, Mr. Nichols serves as a Director for The Centre for Dreams. He is a past President of the Markham Board of Trade (1988-1989) and served as a director of the Markham Stouffville Hospital from 1992 through 2001 and as Board Chair in 2001.
Terry Le Grice is the principal realtor for Le Grice Real Estate in Markham. He has served on the Board of Directors for The Centre for Dreams as a Director and recently as the Chair of the Fundraising Committee where he headed up the Beyond The Label campaign distribution.
Gayle Whittamore graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto but has spent the majority of her career in Human Resources. She is a 20 year HR veteran having worked at IBM Canada Ltd. and The Hospital for Sick Children. Her career has spanned most HR disciplines with a focus on operations, compensation, and employee benefit and pension programs. Gayle’s spare time is devoted to her family and their fruit and vegetable farm operation. She is an avid runner, cyclist and skier and volunteers for several Markham-based organizations in support of the vulnerable population.
