On Monday February 25, 2013, Elaine Vollett was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from the City of Markham, Mayor Scarpitti and the members of City Council. This commemorative medal has been presented over the last year to 60,000 deserving Canadians, 27 of which are from Markham. This award celebrates significant contributions and achievements and recognizes those who, like Her Majesty The Queen, have dedicated themselves to service to their fellow citizens, their community and their country.

The Diamond Jubilee Committee of Markham was established in 2012 with funding from the City of Markham and Heritage Canada, and was created in honour of Her Majesty's accession to the throne in 1952 and her 60 years of service to the people of Canada.

Congratulations Elaine!
